Metric Dowty Washers—also known as bonded seals—are sealing washers used to prevent fluid leaks in high-pressure hydraulic systems. They consist of a metal washer

(usually steel or stainless steel) with a vulcanized rubber sealing element bonded to the inside. The rubber is typically Nitrile (NBR), Viton (FKM), or EPDM, depending on the application.
